This fall Yellowtail Habitat users will notice a few changes. Three projects will be completed this fall with project funding from the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission through the Federal Aid Sport Fish Restoration Funds. The three projects include an extension to the Kane boat ramp, the addition of a comfort station at Jim Creek, and installation of a new log boom system at Horseshoe Bend. Bighorn Canyon is excited to be able to work with Wyoming Game and Fish and Friends of Bighorn Lake to make these improvements.
Bighorn Canyon anticipates work to start on the Kane boat ramp north of the causeway the week of September 23. This project will extend the concrete at the boat ramp 60 feet improving boat launching at this site. During construction, the ramp will be closed. The ramp is expected to reopen mid-October. In mid-October work will begin on the new comfort station south-east of Jim Creek. This improvement project is planned to be completed by November 1st, weather permitting. The third project is a new log boom at Horseshoe Bend. While the new log boom will be delivered mid-October, they will not be installed until the spring of 2014.
