Bighorn Canyon Seeks Oral Histories From Area Residents
Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area in conjunction with the University of Montana is conducting a historic research project aimed at preserving the history of the river before the dam, the building of the dam, and the history of Eddy Hulbert the self taught silversmith of the Hillsboro Ranch. If you are interested in assisting with this project by sharing oral histories or relevant information please plan on attending an open house at the Hyart Theater on April 4, 2011.
Two student researches, Jonathan Hall and Shawn Bailey, from the University of Montana will be at the Hyart Theater to meet and greet and to provide a showing of historic film footage regarding the river before the dam. They hope to start generating a list of names of people to contact that have have stories to share about the canyon, dam construction, and or Eddie Hulbert.
The Hyart Theater is located in downtown Lovell, Wyoming at 251 East Main Street. The showing is free and open to the public. Concessions will be provided with proceeds going back into the historic Hyart Theater. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the film starting at 7:00 p.m..
