Interpretive winter snowshoe hikes are a new program that began in the winter of 2010. The walk follows the blue cross-country ski trail in the park's high country looking at winter wildlife adaptations and ecosystems. The walk lasts about 2 hours. Participants need snowshoes and warm winter clothing. Water is also recommended. Children under 12 not permitted. There are two walks currently scheduled for this winter, one on December 28 and a second on January 14. Both begin at 1 PM. There is no additional fee for the walk. Attendees must pay the park entry fee or have a valid pass. Reservations are required. Call 505-672-3861 x 517.
