Steps

  • Before your trip, choose the condiments you’ll bring. You can save prep and cleaning time at your campsite if you wash and chop your toppings before your trip.

  • Packaged hot dogs are already fully cooked, but warming it up over an open flame adds flavor. Grill your hot dog over the campfire or stove to your liking. You can cook them on a grill, or roast them on marshmallow / hot dog sticks. A fully warmed hot dog will be a rich chestnut color and may begin to split open.

  • While the hot dogs are cooking, lay out your condiments. Set them up on a table so people can add what they want just like a salad or sundae bar.

  • Tip! Keep your condiments covered to avoid attracting insects.

  • Tip! You can wash and chop all the toppings at home and then pack them in a cooler if you want to save prep and cleaning time while at your campsite.
