Timothy had never been to a national park before he was invited on an NPS recruitment trip to Jacksonville, Florida.

What he saw as a "free trip for a college student" turned into his dream job. After finishing his sociology degree he went through a law enforcement training program and worked three seasons before becoming a permanent, commissioned NPS law enforcement ranger.

As law enforcement rangers, we interact with all types of individuals—from different backgrounds, cultures and countries, and with different abilities, interests and perspectives. We want our workforce to reflect those differences. The Office of Relevancy, Diversity and Inclusion leads the NPS efforts in fostering diversity and inclusion throughout our workforce.
