Notes: An astute observer of Jesuit rules since 21 October 1742. He came to Guevavi on 28 May 1761 from Átil at the age of 35 and stayed for two years. Fr. Garrucho had the ailing Pfefferkorn removed to Oposura in the spring of 1763 for rest. He was reassigned to Cucurpe. Went first to Cadiz during the expulsion and then sent to a monastery. He was freed late in 1777. His most lasting contribution as a missionary is his "Description of Sonora," published in Germany thirty years after he left Guevavi. He wrote nothing of his two years there. |
