Today, the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Park Service announced $1,067,500 in support of support 50 grants in 27 states, including an award of $15,000 to the Bad River Tribe for Lake Superior Watershed and Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Collaborative Art Project.

Tourism benefits of Apostle Islands 2016
A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 232,662 visitors to Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in 2015 spent $36 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 571 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $44 million.

Bayfield Library hosts Centennial presentation
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the National Park Service
(NPS). On Monday February 29 at 6 pm, the Bayfield Library will host a special
presentation titled “The National Park Service…100 Years and Counting”. Neil Howk, Assistant Chief of Interpretation and Education at Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, will explore some of the history of the NPS and explain efforts to celebrate this anniversary.
