Beaches

Acadia National Park has two beaches popular for swimming in the summer: Sand Beach and Echo Lake Beach. There is also a small beach for swimming at Lake Wood.

Lifeguards may be present at Sand Beach. Be aware: Swimming in natural areas poses risks. Your safety depends on your own good judgement.

Sand Beach, Echo Lake Beach, and Lake Wood are monitored weekly for bacteria from June through August. Read more information on the bacteria monitoring program.

Many other lakes and ponds are public water supplies where swimming, wading, and pets are prohibited. Please respect posted regulations.
