Elementary Educational Tour

This tour is provides a 30-minute site walkthrough. Students will be asked to consider the term "legacy", and how the house represents the legacy of Hamilton/early America. Considering this angle, students will be introduced to the concepts of living in the early 1800's and how our lives compare today. The history of Harlem/New York City will be introduced, and concepts of landscape change (rural to urban settings) will be explored from the context of The Grange. Click here for pre/post learning activities and click here to see how this field trip satisfies New York State Curriculum standards.

Standard Grange Tour

Better suited for middle school and up, this tour covers the basics of The Grange and its history. Touching upon subjects such as Alexander Hamilton, the building of The Grange, early Harlem history, artifacts within the home, the restoration of the home, and more, it is a good introduction into the various topics of the house.

Rangers will be able to accommodate topical requests with enough notice. If your group would like to focus on a specific topic within The Grange, just let us know.
