Zion National Park's 100th Anniversary in 2009

In 2009, Zion National Park is celebrating a "Century Of Sanctuary". Zion was established as Mukuntuweap National Monument by President William Taft on July 31, 1909. The Park plans to have a series of celebrations and events to commerate this historic milestone.

Zion National Park Centennial Activities
The following events are currently planned in conjunction with Zion National Park’s celebration of a “Century of Sanctuary”. Please check back as more events, activities and programs will be announced.

First Day of Sale
A new U.S. Postal Service 79 cent stamp featuring Zion National Park was unveiled in a ceremony outside the Zion Canyon Visitor Center on Sunday, June 28. A special pictorial postmark, free with the purchase of a stamp, was also available following the unveiling.

Also on June 28th, the United States Postal Service issued a new Zion National Park International Postage Stamp in Washington DC.
