On Wednesday, July 8 at 10:30 am, Zion Dispatch received a brief report of a possible SAR in The Narrows. The report was of a 57-year-old male who fell in The Narrows and suffered a leg injury and was unable to move. A ranger on a roving assignment on the Riverside Walk had reported it to a shuttle bus driver who relayed it to Dispatch.

A SAR team headed up at 12:00 pm and made contact at about 1:00 pm. Rangers floated him out to the Riverside Walk where he was transferred to a wheeled litter and reached the trailhead at 1:50 pm. He was transported to his vehicle to self-transport to the hospital.

During this first evacuation, the SAR team received a report of a second injury in The Narrows. A 15-year-old girl had fallen and hit her head, losing consciousness for 5-10 seconds and not feeling well. While the first patient was wheeled out, two SAR team members turned around and hiked back up The Narrows to locate the second patient. The SAR team brought up a second litter to the end of the Riverside Walk, but the female patient hiked out with assistance. She was transported with her family to their vehicle at 2:15 pm.
