4, 2005 Business Proposals Sought for Automotive Fueling Station For Yosemite National Park A request for proposals will be available beginning Thursday, May 10, 2005 from the National Park Service (NPS) for the operation of an automotive fueling station in the El Portal Administrative Site, adjacent to Yosemite National Park. Offers will be accepted until July 20, 2005. A panel of subject matter experts comprised of National Park Service officials will evaluate the offers. A final decision is expected by the fall of 2005. Yosemite National Park Superintendent Mike Tollefson encourages all interested parties to submit proposals for this park concession. "We are hoping to receive offers that will provide a useful and valuable service to visitors and local residents," said Tollefson. "This presents an opportunity for a showcase of local pride." An automotive fueling station has operated in El Portal under several different NPS concession operators for over thirty years. The NPS offered the last concession opportunity in 2001.
