Restrictions and Closures

Some trails and backcountry campsites near the Owl Fire are temporarily closed. Details are available by calling the Yellowstone Backcountry Office at 307-344-2160 during business hours.

Fire Management

Yesterday reconnaissance flights flown at 11:00am & 1:00pm found little fire activity. An earlier infra-red flight (low level) found hot spots with little visible smoke. Crews were staged near their respective divisions.

Plans for today

Reconnaissance and mop up activities on the fire. Continued demobilization of resources and planning for incident transition.

Fire weather and behavior

Mostly cloudy in the morning. Becoming sunny in the afternoon with a chance of scattered thunderstorms developing. Winds will be light in the morning, increasing to 10-15 MPH in the afternoon. Erratic wind gusts over 30 MPH are possible near any storms. Minimal fire behavior is expected.

The Daly Creek Trail has been reopened for day use only.
