YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK NEWS RELEASE
----------------------------------------------------

BEARTOOTH PASS OPEN IN TIME FOR MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Road crews from Yellowstone National Park and the Montana Department of Transportation have cleared the latest snowfall from the Beartooth Pass.

The Beartooth Highway, the section of US-212 linking Red Lodge, Montana, with Cooke City, Silver Gate, and the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park, opened for travel at 3:30 Friday afternoon.

The road between Tower Fall and Canyon Junction over Dunraven Pass remains closed due to unsafe travel conditions. It will be evaluated on a daily basis.

All other roads and all entrances to Yellowstone National Park are open.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a chance of rain or snow throughout the holiday weekend.

Visitors should be prepared for cold and wet weather this weekend.  There could be short travel delays if snow accumulates on the park’s high elevation roads and passes.

Current road information is available 24 hours a day by calling 307-344-2117.
