Paycheck Pass Fire Report
Paycheck Pass Fire Information This small lightning caused fire was suppressed by a visitor on 04 or 05 September 2001. Yellowstone Fire Management staff reminds visitors that wildfires are inherently dangerous and suppression actions should only be taken by trained personnel. Moreover, this particular fire would have been managed under our "Wildland Fire Use for Resource Benefit" guidelines and allowed to progress naturally. Many of our large natural fires have remained less than an acre in size for several weeks before making substantial runs. Therefore, the suppression action taken by this visitor may have significantly altered Yellowstone's natural, and fire affected landscape for future park visitors.
