Douglas Fire Information

Started: 20 July / Out:

UTMs:  511.7 x 4907.1

The Douglas Fire is located west of the Bechler River trail west of Douglas Knob in the southwest corner of Yellowstone. Reported by Mt. Sheridan lookout at 10:40 am. The fire is just west of the trail, burning is lodgepole pine, somewhat sparse fuels. The fire is about .25 to .50 of an acre. This fire will be visited by the fire monitors on Saturday and determine the cause due the proximity to the Bechler River trail. The fire is about .25 mile SW of campsite 9D3.

28 Jul - Update

This fire was visited by Fire Management Office Phil Perkins. This fire was also cold trailed, no smoke was seen and no hot spots found. This fire is also probably out and also will also not be declared out until it can be visited by the Infrared unit.

24 Jul - Update

The Fire Monitor Crew landed at the Douglas fire. This fire has burned about .2 to .25 of an acre and was only smoking up in a couple of spots well inside the fire edge. Although this fire is located in some pockets of heavy fuels, it is about      out apparently from a wet thunderstorm. This fire will also persist for a while longer but the fuels have not completely cured out at this location too. The Mount Sheridan lookout has a good view of this fire and will monitor it closely daily.
