As part of the Yellowstone Pavement Preservation Project, specific parking areas will have 24-hour closures in the coming days.

Yellowstone National Park received $3.2 million in funding from the National Park Service Intermountain Region Pavement Preservation Program for upgrading parking lots in year one of a two-year project. Intermountain Slurry Seal was awarded this year’s contract to improve half of the 5.2 million square feet of deteriorating parking lots in the park. The parking areas will be leveled, resurfaced through crack sealing, patch sealing and micro sealing, and restriped.

The following 24-hour closures will be in effect:

• 7 a.m. July 11 to 7: a.m. July 12 – Fairy Falls Parking Closure

• 7 a.m. July 15 to 7 a.m. July 16 – Artist Point Parking Closure

• 7 a.m. July 16 to 7 a.m. July 17 – Inspiration Point Parking Closure

The Old Faithful Parking lots, Upper and Lower Geyser Parking lots, Uncle Tom’s Parking lot, and Wapiti Lake Parking lot have also been completed this year. The closure dates are subject to delays due to weather.
