Teacher Workshops Offered in Yellowstone National Park

The National Park Service, in partnership with the Yellowstone Association Institute, will be offering two teacher workshops this year. University and in-service credits are available for both workshops, which are open to all educators.

The first workshop, "Take it Outside," is a four-day class focusing on methods for teaching in an outdoor environment and for motivating youth to spend more time outdoors. This workshop will be based in Yellowstone at the Lamar Valley Buffalo Ranch, July 27-30.

The second workshop, "Living on the Edge," is a four-day class focusing on geology as it relates to Yellowstone's geologic past, present, and future. This workshop will be based outside the park’s North Entrance, in Gardiner, Montana, October 15-18.

Courses target middle school teachers, but lessons are easily adaptable to both younger and older students. Elementary and high school teachers are encouraged to participate.

To reserve a spot or obtain more information, call the Yellowstone Association at 406-848-2400, or visit http://www.yellowstoneassociation.org/institute/search.aspx?k=teacher
