Yellowstone's abundant and diverse wildlife are as famous as its geysers. There are 67 species of mammals including 7 species of native ungulates and 2 species of bears, nearly 300 species of birds, 16 species of fish, 4 species of amphibians, and 5 species of reptiles.

 

Amphibians
Yellowstone has four species of amphibians: blotched tiger salamander, boreal chorus frog, boreal toad, and Columbia spotted frog.

 

Birds
Approximately 150 species of birds nest in Yellowstone.

 

Fish
Yellowstone's native fish have underpinned natural food webs, have great significance to local economies, and are culturally significant.

 

Mammals
Yellowstone is home to the largest concentration of mammals in the lower 48 states.

 

Reptiles
Yellowstone is home to six reptile species.
