Wupatki, Sunset Crater Volcano, and Walnut Canyon National Monuments Announce Winter Hours

 

FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA - Diane Chung, Superintendent of the Flagstaff National Monuments - Wupatki, Sunset Crater Volcano, and Walnut Canyon National Monument announces that visitor center hours will shift to winter hours starting November 1, 2012.

From November 1, 2012 to May 1, 2013, the monument visitor centers will be open from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week. The entrance gate for Walnut Canyon NM opens at 9am. The road between Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki NMs is open year-round. We are closed only on December 25. Monument information and exhibits will be available during these hours. Access to the Island trail at Walnut Canyon NM ends to at 4pm and the Rim Trail closes at 4:30pm. This allows visitors to complete their visit of these trails prior to the park closing, and allows for both staff and visitor safety. The entrance fee is $5.00/person for visitors 16 and over. America the Beautiful Passes are honored and sold.

 

Walnut Canyon National Monument is located 7.5 miles east of downtown Flagstaff via I-40 and can be reached at (928)526-3367 and on the web at www.nps.gov/waca. Wupatki National Monument is 37 miles north of Flagstaff via Hwy 89, and can be reached at (928)679-2365 and www.nps.gov/wupa. Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is located 12 miles north of Flagstaff via Hwy 89 and can be reached at (928)526-0502 and www.nps.gov/sucr.
