Join a Park Ranger and learn the fascinating human and natural history of the Kennecott area.

Join a Ranger!
Throughout the summer, Interpretive Park Rangers lead a variety of history talks, guided walks, and evening programs. Everyone is welcome to these fun and free programs.

 
Take a tour INSIDE the Kennecott Mill

Guided history tours of the interior of the impressive 14-story Kennecott Mill Building are conducted daily throughout the summer by St. Elias Alpine Guides.

St. Elias Alpine Guides also offers hiking, backpacking, rafting & mountaineering adventures for every age and level of experience. Join them for a half or full-day hike on the Root Glacier, ice climbing seminar, fly-in hike, river rafting trip or a rugged multi-day adventure into the backcountry of the park.
 
Learn how to ice climb!

Guided day and multi-day adventures throughout the area are also offered by the Kennicott Wilderness Guides.

Join them for a guided day hike, overnight wilderness adventure, rugged mountaineering challenge, or river trip.

 
Take a river trip
Copper Oar offers day and multi-day rafting and multi-sport adventures from their base in the middle of the park. Join them for a one-day float through the majestic Nizina Canyon with a flightseeing trip on the way back, or for a multi-day adventure deep into the park.

The Wrangell Mountains Center offers a rich variety of residential and walk-in programs that foster appreciation, understanding, and stewardship of Alaska's wildlands and communities.

Mt. Churchill  

Did You Know?
Mount Churchill, a 15,638’ volcanic peak in the St. Elias mountain range, was named by the Alaska State Legislature in 1965 shortly following the death of English statesman Sir Winston Churchill.
