Alaska In A Box!
Bring a piece of the Alaska wilds to your classroom!From trees to gold, birds to bugs, bears to salmon, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park has a fabulous collection of Teaching Kits in a wide variety of topics. Each large plastic tote box is complete with lesson plans, activities, props, samples, games, and posters. Kits are loaned for 1-2 weeks at a time. Kits are reserved by written or phone request and can be picked up at park headquarters or mailed to your school or office.

Park Rangers are are also available to present an educational program tailored to meet your class’ needs.

Bird Box
A complete bird unit with lessons about avian characteristics, bird adaptations and bird/human interactions.

Fish Kit
This kit emphasizes fish characteristics and adaptations along with their habitat and the cultural and economic importance of fish to Alaskans.

Gold Rush Kit
Take a fun look at Alaska's history and learn why people rushed for gold. Learn how people survived the hardships of mining life and see the lasting legacy they left behind.

Bug Box
There is a “buzz” over this kit because Insecta is the largest phylum in the animal world! Students learn about the microscopic world of bugs and their clever adaptations to their environments.

Wetlands Kit
Activities introduce students to wetlands and the many functions they provide us. Students will explore the plants and animals of this important ecosystem while learning the impacts of human actions.

Mammals Kit
Learn about fur-bearing animals of the arctic and around the world. Activities introduce students of all ages to mammal characteristics and behaviors in the wild.

Map & Compass Kit
Kit includes 25 individual compasses, a large demonstrator compass, background information and lesson plans to teach students orienteering and map reading.

Archeology Kit Discover the intrigue of the past and stimulate students' inquisitive nature. Many fun hands-on activities. Curriculum based kit for grade 4-7

Backcountry Safety & Leave No Trace
Students can construct five wall panels, each depicting a different concept in wilderness etiquette. Bear Safety, River Safety, Cultural & Natural Resource Awareness, and Leave No Trace Principles.
