Seneca Falls, NY - Women's Rights National Historical Park is pleased to announce that it will show the first four episodes of the documentary film The National Parks: America's Best Idea this Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14, at 12:00 noon.

The National Parks: America's Best Idea, a film by Ken Burns, explores the creation and the preservation of America's national parks from 1851 to 1980. The cinematography includes footage of inspiring scenic areas and historic sites.

The film is being shown as part of Women's Rights National Historical Park's first Winter Film Festival. The park exists to commemorate and preserve the events of the First Women's Rights Convention that was held in Seneca Falls in 1848. "We are proud to be part of the National Park system, and we invite everyone to join us in celebrating our shared history and culture through film," said Superintendent Tammy Duchesne.

The park is also showing the film during April prior to its celebration of National Parks Week from April 21-29. "We are proud to share the stories of America's national parks during April," said Duchesne. During National Park Week, April 21-29, all 397 national parks offer free admission, all week long.

Women's Rights NHP will show episodes one and two on Friday, April 13, and episodes three and four on Saturday, April 14. The National Parks: America's Best Idea is intended for a general audience. This film will be shown from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on both days.

All Winter Film Festival movies will be shown at 12:00 noon on Fridays and Saturdays, November through April, in the Guntzel Theater, located at the Women's Rights NHP Visitor Center at 136 Fall Street in downtown Seneca Falls. Because film lengths vary, visitors are encouraged to call if they are interested in a particular showing. All park programs are free and open to the public.
