Seneca Falls, NY - Women's Rights National Historical Park is honored to invite the public to a naturalization ceremony that will occur at the park's recently rehabilitated chapel at 11am on August 19th, 2011. The ceremony is being organized by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and will be presided over by Judge Marian Payson. The public is welcome to attend and witness the ceremony where approximately twenty five people from nearly a dozen countries will become American citizens.
The National Park Service(NPS) and USCIS recently renewed a formal partnership to promote citizenship ceremonies by holding them in national parks throughout the country. The agreement helps introduce new citizens to some of the nation's most significant natural resources and cultural heritage sites.
"I can't think of places more appropriate to welcome a new generation of American citizens than national parks," said National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis. "These parks, which are owned by all Americans, are not only places of stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife, but across this country the nearly 400 national parks preserve our nation's fascinating history and protect our rich cultural heritage."
Women's Rights National Historical Park was established to commemorate and preserve the story of the First Women's Rights Convention and historical structures associated with it in Seneca Falls and Waterloo, New York. All public tours and programs are free and open to the public.
