Women's Rights National Historical Park continues its annual Winter Film Festival by showing the documentary film Stonewall Uprising Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, 2014.

This week's film features the event that started the gay rights movement the United States. The violent protests and street demonstrations at the Stonewall Inn in New York City on June 28, 1969 launched a worldwide rights movement. This week's film is preceded by a viewer warning for violence and mature subject matter. The running time for Stonewall Uprising is 90 minutes.

Women's Rights National Historical Park commemorates and preserves the sites associated with the First Women's Rights Convention, held in 1848 in Seneca Falls. "We are proud to be part of the National Park system, and we invite everyone to join us in celebrating our shared history and culture through film," said Superintendent Ami Ghazala. "The Winter Film Festival is a fun way to learn about our national history," added Superintendent Ghazala.

All Winter Film Festival showings will occur at 12:00 Noon on Fridays and Saturdays at the Women's Rights National Historical Park Visitor Center, located at 136 Fall Street in Seneca Falls. All film showings are free of charge. The Winter Film Festival films are intended for a general audience. Visitors are encouraged to call if they are interested in a particular showing as film lengths vary.

The park visitor center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. For more information, please visit our website at www.nps.gov/wori or call (315) 568-0024.
