Women’s Rights National Historical Park to Show “I Have a Dream” Film Footage on the 50th Anniversary

Seneca Falls, NY – Women's Rights National Historical Park will be showing a film of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. giving his "I Have a Dream" speech. The film will be shown all day on August 28, beginning at 9:00 AM when the visitor center opens, until it closes at 5:00 PM. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

On August 28, 1963 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. addressed a crowd of more than 250,000 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. "The Park is proud to honor Dr. King and all of those who worked alongside him in the Civil Rights Movement," said David Malone, Acting Chief of Interpretation. "Join us on the 50^thAnniversary of the March on Washington to listen to this inspirational message and share in his 'Dream'," added Malone. The speech was part of several events held that day known as the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom."

In recognition of the 50^thAnniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Women's Rights National Historical Park is sponsoring a year-long series of programs titled "Keep the Dream Alive" Events. The next "Keep the Dream Alive" Event is the film festival, which begins November 1 and runs through the end of April 2014. Join us in commemorating the civil rights movement.
