Elizabeth Cady Stanton House to Close for Winter Season

Seneca Falls, NY— The Elizabeth Cady Stanton House, located at 32 Washington Street, will close for the winter season beginning Monday, December 9, 2013. The house was the home of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, one of the organizers of the first Women's Rights Convention held in Seneca Falls in 1848. After the convention Stanton was recognized as one of the leaders of the Women's Rights Movement in the United States. The Elizabeth Cady Stanton House has been restored to its 1848 appearance and is listed as a National Historic Landmark.

Visitors will be able to learn about the history of the site in the Visitor Center where they can view the park film and tour the museum exhibits. Park rangers will offer tours of the Wesleyan Chapel at 10:30 & 11:30 a.m. and 1:30, 2:30, & 3:30 p.m. In addition, the park will host several special events and programs during the winter months. Upcoming programs and events include:

· "It's a Wonderful Life" Festival on December 14^th& 15^th- Arts & Crafts activities will be held throughout the festival. The park will screen the film, "The Bishop's Wife" starring Cary Grant and Karolyn Grimes who played Zuzu Bailey in the film "It's a Wonderful Life".

· The Winter Film Festival will be held every Friday and Saturday at noon in the Visitor Center through the month of April. The schedule of films can be found on the park website.

· "Sentiments & Declarations" lecture series co-hosted with Hobart and William Smith Colleges will continue with lectures on February 20^th, March 27^th, and April 24^th, 2014.
