Create Wire Quilts and Build Superheroes at Women’s Rights National Historical Park!

Seneca Falls, NY –  Women's Rights National Historical Park will host free art classes on Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, to provide fun and unique experiences for families and kids of all ages!

Stephanie Cassidy will demonstrate the art of creating a wire quilt on Saturday, July 12, at 1:00 pm, and again on Sunday, July 13, at 1:00 pm. In her program,Quilting Made Easy: Exploring the Art of Wire Sculpture, Stephanie will teach visitors to create a decorative, sculptural story quilt. 

Stephanie describes her quilting program, "Quilts often served as a way for women to tell their stories. A modern and expressive way to make a quilt is to incorporate wire, string, and beads. Visitors will learn more about the individuals who fought for women's rights and the abolition of slavery, and they can share their own stories by using art."

On Saturday, July 12, at 3:00 pm, and again on Sunday, July 13, at 3:00 pm, Women's Rights National Historical Park will call all superheroes! In her program, Build a Superhero!Stephanie will help children and adults to create superhero masks and capes that represent their chosen secret identity and superpower to help make the world a better place. 

Stephanie describes her Build a Superhero! program, "Superheroes are synonymous with strength and bravery, and the women and men who fought for equality at the First Women's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls were heroes, too. This activity will be a fun way for kids to learn about Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Frederick Douglass, and other heroes of the early women's rights movement."

All programs will be held at Women's Rights National Historical Park at 136 Fall Street in Seneca Falls, New York, and are free and open to the public.
