Women’s Rights NHP Completes First Annual Winter Film Festival

Seneca Falls, NY - Women's Rights National Historical Park completed its first annual Winter Film Festival on Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Guntzel Theater in the Women's Rights NHP Visitor Center, 136 Fall Street, in Seneca Falls.A total of 379 visitors viewed 50 film showings between November, 2011, through April, 2012.

Women's Rights NHP offered films on diverse topics, including other national parks, film biographies of Benjamin Franklin and Martin Luther King, Jr., and documentaries by filmmaker Ken Burns.Winter Film Festival showings highlighted several themes, including African-American History Month in February, Women's History Month in March, and National Parks Week.in April.

Women's Rights National Historical Park exists to commemorate and preserve the events of the First Women's Rights Convention that was held in Seneca Falls in 1848."We are proud to be part of the National Park system, and we are pleased with the success of this first annual Winter Film Festival at Women's Rights NHP," said Superintendent Tammy Duchesne.

"We are grateful that the community is seeing the park as an educational and community resource.We are glad to provide educational films to local residents.We look forward to engaging the local community as a resource in other ways, including serving as a polling location for 2012 elections," added Superintendent Duchesne."Stay tuned for more events this year at Women's Rights NHP."

The Women's Rights NHP Visitor Center is open from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., daily.Admission is free of charge.
