Women’s Rights National Historical Park and Hobart and William Smith Colleges to co-host a lecture series; Sentiments & Declarations

Seneca Falls, NY—Women's Rights National Historical Park - will co-host a lecture series with Hobart and William Smith Colleges entitled "Sentiments & Declarations."This six part lecture series will explore different aspects of women's rights and feminism, both nationally and internationally.

The first lecture of the series will be "The Crooning Crusader: Actress Kitty Marion in the British and American Suffrage Campaigns", to be presented by Dr. Christine Woodworth, Ph. D, Associate Professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.This program will highlight the life of British born singer and actress Kitty Marion, her career in Women's Suffrage and her work with Margaret Sanger in Birth Control reform.The program will take place on Thursday, September 26th at 5:00 pm in the park visitor center at 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls, NY.

Dr. Woodworth holds a Ph. D in Theatre and a graduate certificate in Women's Studies from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH.She also works actively as a director and dramaturg.Dr. Woodworth is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab and a past participant in the Mellon School of Theatre and Performance Research at Harvard University.

The lecture series will continue on the following dates: October 24th, and November 21st, 2013, and on February 20th, March 27th, and April 24th, 2014.More information will follow regarding each lecture.All lectures begin at 5:00 pm in the Guntzel Theater, Women's Rights National Historical Park, 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls, NY.Admission is free.
