Judith Sargent Murray

Judith Sargent Murray (1751-1820) published an article in 1790 titled "On the Equality of the Sexes". This landmark publication brings to light yet another voice who challenged the role of women in religion, the formal education of girls and women, and the subordinate position of women in society.

Murray continued to write for the rest of her life. She wrote and published numerous essays, poems, and novels.
