Wilson's Creek National Battlefield offers a number of educational opportunities, including a thirteen-minute film and a six-minute fiber-optics battle map. Field trips are encouraged. Contact the park staff to request an educators' packet and to give information regarding the date and time of your field trip, and the grade and number of students to be expected. Preparing your students for their visit is important. Please review with them the day's schedule, park rules and regulations, and your expectations for this visit. Please contact the park as soon as possible if your plans change, or if the field trip must be canceled. A helpful tip about lunch: a picnic area with shelter is available near the Visitor Center. Lunch plans might include a stop at fast food businesses or a nearby community park in Republic, Missouri. General Sweeny's Museum is next to the park, and can provide tour information upon request.
To help plan your field trip we have prepared four information packets. Portions of these packets are available here below on line, or you may contact the Visitor Center by either e-mail or by telephone at (417) 732-2662 to have a hard copy sent to you.
