FALL HOURS OF OPERATION
Fall hours of operation for Wilson's Creek National Battlefield will begin on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. Tour Road hours will change to 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., while Visitor Center hours will remain at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
TICKETS FOR POPULAR MOONLIGHT TOUR STILL AVAILABLE
Tickets for the Moonlight Tour are still available. The tour will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 between 7 and 10 p.m. Tickets may be obtained at the Visitor Center or by mail (for a limited time). For more information, call 732-2662, ext. 227.
HISTORIC JOHN RAY HOUSE CLOSED DURING ROOF REPLACEMENT
The Ray House will be closed intermittently while a new cedar shake roof is installed. We regret the inconvenience, but the work is necessary for the preservation of the structure. The work is scheduled to be completed by September 15.
ARTS IN THE PARK
CONCERTS FOR 2014
May 3, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. – College of the Ozarks Orchestra– This 50+ member orchestra will be performing for the first time at Wilson's Creek NB, playing patriotic selections in front of the Visitor Center.
May 10, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. – The Missouri State University Community Band– Always a fan favorite, this 45 member, all volunteer community band will perform a concert on the lawn in front of the Visitor Center.
May 17, Saturday, 7:00 p.m– The Missouri State University Civil War Army Bandwill also be performing their first concert at the battlefield. They will play period music from the 1860's.
May 24, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. – High Strung – Another fan favorite,this bluegrass group, from the Springfield-Branson area, started performing regularly at bluegrass festivals in 2004.
May 31, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. – The Wings of Swing Big Band is a versatile group that performs in the traditional big band style from the 30's & 40's to the rock era of the 70's.A group of 9-17 musicians from military missions, music educators, and other instrumentalists, who have performed professionally.
June 7, Saturday, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Ray House Jamboree – Civil War period music, demonstrations, and activities, along with a BBQ. The WICR Foundation will be sponsoring a barbeque dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Proceeds from the BBQ will support the Foundation's proposed activities.
June 14, Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – The 135th Army Band will be performing again at the park with their smaller group, called the Country Band, Show Me Country.
All concerts are FREE and open to the public except for the June 7th program at the Ray House where the regular tour road admission of $5.00 per person or $10.00 per car will apply.
