Program and Tour Schedule

All cave tours are ranger-guided and leave from the visitor center. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. During the summer months long waits may be encountered. To avoid waits, the best time to visit the cave is during the early hours of the day. During the summer weekends are good times to visit; Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the busiest days. The visitor center is located off US Highway 385 about 12 miles north of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Do not use your GPS to find the visitor center - you will get lost.

Holders of the Senior (Golden Age)/Access Passes are eligible for half price tickets for cave tours for the cardholder only. The America the Beautiful - National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass (Annual Pass) does not waive cave tour fees which are Expanded Amenity Fees.

Sign-language capable rangers are available. If you contact the park at least a week before your visit a ranger who can sign will be available. General information scripts of tours are available and can be downloaded by clicking here.

Did You Know?

Stemless Hymenoxys

The scientific name for the Stemless Hymenoxys is Hymemoxys acaulis. Acaulis means "stemless" and referes to the leafless stalks which bear the flower heads. More...
