The Photos and Multimedia section allows you to visit the park through pictures and videos. On these pages, we will be offering the sights of Wind Cave National Park through an assortment of materials ranging from photo galleries, to video clips and programs, PowerPoint programs, and other multimedia items.

But remember - there's no substitute for being here. So explore these links and let yourself become inspired to make a greater exploration, in person, one of the world's longest, most complex caves or to spend time hiking across the windswept prairie to see firsthand the animals that make this place their home.

Commercial photography or filming in the park may need a special use permit. Click here for information about a special use permit for photography or filming.

Did You Know?

Natural Entrance of Wind Cave

Winds caused by changes in barometric pressure are what give Wind Cave its name. These winds have been measured at the cave's walk-in entrance at over 70 mph. The winds at the natural entrance of the cave attracted the attention of Native Americans and early settlers.
