An encore presentation of Ranger Jim Pisarowicz’s special campfire program and viewing of Mars will be held this Wednesday evening.

Earth and Mars are currently the closest they have been for 60,000 years. Pisarowicz’s program will discuss how the study of Mars has been impacted by his rock-eating microbes research being conducted in the cave called Cueva de Villa Luz, located in Tabasco, Mexico. The original presentation was enjoyed by approximately 130 people last Wednesday evening, but inclement weather preventing viewing of Mars.

Once again, telescopes will be set up to allow for viewing of the red planet following Pisarowicz’s presentation.

Pisarowicz is a world-renowned caver and his discoveries have been featured in National Geographic and on the PBS science program NOVA.

This special evening program will begin at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, at the Elk Mountain Campground Amphitheatre in Wind Cave National Park. Admission is free. Call 605/745-4600 for more information.
