Bison Herd

No additional testing for brucellosis was conducted on the herd until 1960 when 75% of 52 bison tested were found to be reactors or suspect. This lead to the initiation of the second brucellosis eradication and vaccination programs in 1964. Despite these efforts, the State of South Dakota placed the herd under quarantine in 1982.

The Star Lilly (Leucocrinum montanum) has several common names including sand lily, sage lily, mountain lily, wild tuberose, and Star-of-Bethlehem. The word Leucocrinum comes from Greek meaning "white lily."
