Skunkbrush is a preferred browse for deer and grouse, turkey, flickers, and other birds eat the fruit.  The branches of the Skunkbrush were used by Plains tribes for basket making as they are tough and pliable.

The Star Lilly (Leucocrinum montanum) has several common names including sand lily, sage lily, mountain lily, wild tuberose, and Star-of-Bethlehem. The word Leucocrinum comes from Greek meaning "white lily."
