Ford, Richard C. 1986. Black Hills Stream Inventory and Classification 1984 and 1985. SD Department of Game, Fish and Parks.

Abstract

An inventory of Black Hills trout streams and habitat was conducted in 1984 and 1985. 220 stations were sampled on 65 streams. This inventory while not complete (90%) showed a total of 559 km (350 mi) of streams with wild trout populations. A classification system based on species and number of wild trout was developed. This is a database for the use of resourch agencies.

Natural Entrance of Wind Cave

Did You Know?
Winds caused by changes in barometric pressure are what give Wind Cave its name. These winds have been measured at the cave's walk-in entrance at over 70 mph. The winds at the natural entrance of the cave attracted the attention of Native Americans and early settlers.
