WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. - Free tours of Wind Cave will be offered Monday, April 22, through Friday, April 26, as part of National Park Week. Tours of the cave will be offered at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. These moderately strenuous tours will last around 75 minutes and start from the visitor center.

"In addition to the cave tours, there will be a brown bag lunch presentation on Wednesday, April 24, by park biologist Dan Roddy," said park superintendent Vidal Davila. "Dan will be talking about the five year experiment to establish a self-sustaining black-footed ferret population in the park. The program begins at the visitor center at 12:15 p.m. and is free."

The cave temperature is 53 degrees.A light coat or sweater and sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Cave tour tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis. These tours can be extremely popular, resulting in long wait times and possible "sold out" tours.

The park bookstore, managed by the Black Hills Parks and Forest Association, will be offering a 10 percent discount on any national park themed items. Several new items have been stocked in preparation for the upcoming summer season.
