Chronic Wasting Disease Study Postponed
January 27, 2003
A three-year study to determine if Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is present in Wind Cave National Park’s deer herd has been postponed until mid-February. Park officials announced today that SDSU in Brookings, the study’s lead investigator, was asked to reschedule at the request of the aviation company doing the capturing operations. The park hopes to capture 40 deer and test for CWD before fitting the animals with radio collars and releasing them back into the park.
