Abstract - Barometric Winds in Jewel and Wind Caves
Conn, Herb and Conn, Jan. 1965. Barometric Winds in Jewel and Wind Caves. 16 p.
Strong winds blow in and out of Wind Cave and Jewel Cave in South Dakota's Black Hills. Although thought to be barometrically caused, they are stronger than winds of this origin in other caves. Yet other theories seem inadequate to explain them. Wind and pressure measurements were taken over extended periods at the entrances to Jewel and Wind Caves. A device for recording cave wind velocity was developed and provided an 11 day record at JECA.
