Area Campgrounds

Though we do have primitive camping sites for backpackers, there is no campground for RVs or vehicles within White Sands National Monument. However, there are many campgrounds, both public and private, within an easy drive of the park. Download our Area Camping brochure for locations and contact information of many local campgrounds. This listing of private and public campgrounds is provided for your convenience. No endorsement is implied.
Other campground information is available at www.Recreation.gov or www.ReserveUSA.com.

Photo of animal tracks

Most desert animals are nocturnal, coming out to feed only at night when temperatures are cooler. Every animal in the white sands makes tracks on the dunes as it moves, leaving clues to its nocturnal activities.
