There is no campground in the park. A primitive backcountry site is available for backpackers, except during Missile Range closures. You must register for backcountry permits, available on a first-come, first-served basis, at the Visitor Center by one hour before sunset. There are many campgrounds, both public and private, within an easy drive of the park. For detailed information, see Area Campgrounds below. Other campground information is available at www.Recreation.gov or www.ReserveUSA.com.

Did You Know?
Unlike most other birds, which have three front toes and one back toe, the roadrunner has two front and two back toes, allowing it to run down its prey. Look for its distinct X-shaped tracks on the white sands.
