White Sands National Monument

JUNIOR DUNES RANGER PROGRAM

The Junior Dunes Ranger program is a program for kids visiting the park with their families. It is a way to learn more about White Sands National Monument and the National Park Service and have fun at the same time. It's also a way that kids can help the park rangers take care of national parks.

There are three different age/developmental level activity guides: preschool (6 and under), ages 6 - 8, and ages 9 - 13. The activity guides have all kinds of different things in them. There are puzzles, coloring pages, scavenger hunt bingo, activities on desert safety, the visitor center, wildlife, nature manners, trails, and many more.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The program is designed to be done while visiting the park. When you arrive at the park, stop at the visitor center and ask for the activity guide for the age/developmental level you need. Before you leave the park, stop back at the visitor center so the kids can get their patch and certificate.

The program is FREE. It is funded by grants from Western National Parks Association, the National Park Foundation, and Aurora Foods.
