Mammals

A coyote in the middle of the frame looks towards a photographer, the coyote is in the middle of a yellow and green mixed-grass field and a line of trees beyond it forms the horizon.

Mammals
Over 40 species of mammals have been seen within Whitman Mission National Historic Site. While you won't always seen a mammal on a visit to the site, their evidence can be found throughout the park. Some of the most commonly seen mammals include eastern grey squirrels, mule deer, and various mice species. Many other spcies can be seen in the park, but they are often out at night when the park is closed, this would include beavers, coyotes, bats, and other nocturnal animals.
