Experimental archaeology - 1941

Construction of temporary museum -- mixing clay for adobe bricks,
using the horse (Old Blue) for the "dirty work".
Four parts clay, one part straw or hay and enough water to mix, then dumped into a pit two feet deep.
Marcus Whitman may have used a similar technique to construct the mission buildings.
(Notice the **USA** WORK PROGRAM, WPA sign on the left side of the photograph).
