While At The Park - Ranger Guided

While at the park you have some choices for activities. These have to be scheduled before coming. They include indoor and outdoor activities.

The indoor activities to choose from when scheduling a field trip are to watch the ten minute slide show with a ranger introductory talk, observe the exhibits in the museum, and have a ranger demonstration.

The choices for demonstrations include spinning wool at a spinning wheel and noting the importance of this mission activity, the Cayuse culture and the tule lodge, and the Oregon Trail with a wagon of materials.

The outdoor activities include walking the trails. The trails have signs beside them to indicate important historical and natural features related to the mission.

Oregon Trail Wagon

Did You Know?
Wagons used on the Oregon Trail had to carry nearly 2000 pounds of supplies. They traveled 2000 miles or more to the Oregon Country. Most wagons were pulled by oxen as they could eat the prairie grass and survive without lots of food for lengthy periods.
