Since conditions throughout the park can change rapidly and unexpectedly, we recommend you please call the Visitor Center at (530) 246-1225 for the most up-to-date information on park conditions. As of 6/12/2015 the following conditions are:
South Fork Mountain Lookout Road: This road is closed in order to control access. Visitors who wish to gain vehicular access can visit Park Headquarters Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to request the combination to the gate. Visitors must bring a photo identification and state their purpose for using the road.
Crystal Creek Road: The unpaved portion of the road from Boy's Camp to Coggins Park is closed while crews make repairs. The road will open early-summer 2015.
Peltier Valley Road (past the campground): Due to a storm event that resulted in major erosion, this road will remain closed until further notice.
James K. Carr Trail: The James K. Carr trail is closed a short distance beyond the base of Whiskeytown Falls. The closed section of trail is located adjacent to the falls, beyond the "Photographer’s Ledge" vista point. Hikers should not attempt to access the upper vista point "Artist's Ledge" until safety railings can be repaired.
Crystal Creek Campground: The Crystal Creek Campground is currently closed by order of the superintendent until further notice.
