Is Whiskeytown Lake one of your favorite places to spend your free time? Do you enjoy sharing personal experiences and knowledge, learning new things, developing new friendships? Would you like a chance to serve your community and have fun at the same time? If so, we are offering you an opportunity to become a National Park Service Volunteer at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
The park is currently looking for friendly people to assist with staffing the Visitor Center with shifts available on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays beginning immediately. Training will be provided. Duties include greeting visitors and providing information about the area, as well as selling park passes and retail items. Volunteers should have the interest and willingness to learn all about Whiskeytown and its resources, and the ability to pass this information on to others. Volunteers should also have the ability, or willingness to learn how, to operate a cash register and other simple office machines. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of four to five hours per week to the Visitor Center, although more time may be donated if you are interested. Some flexibility is possible, however reliability is a must.
Volunteers are selected based on their sincere interest in helping Whiskeytown protect park resources and serve park visitors, as well as their ability to commit the time to learn new things and complete projects.
