The public is invited to come see a beautiful quilted depiction of Whiskeytown Lake created by Redding quilt artist Ann Westbrook. The large wall-hung quilt will be on view through April 29th at the Whiskeytown Visitor Center. The Visitor Center is located at the corner of Hwy. 299 and Kennedy Memorial Drive.

Ann Westbrook has been a quilter for almost 20 years. She started as a “traditional” quilter. After becoming bored she started making a few “art” type quilts and moved on from there. Mostly self-taught she admits to using a lot of trial and error, and states, “she tries to read everything that has been written on quilting”. She has gone from hand stitching to machine quilting. In the past few years she has begun exploring the art of landscape quilting.

Ann teaches many different phases of quilting including her method of landscape design. She lectures and continues to show many of her award-winning quilts in major shows throughout the United States.

The Whiskeytown Visitor Center is currently open daily 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. For more information please contact Sheila Edridge at 246-1225 or 396-2353.
